Hunter Water’s Sustainability Grants are one-off financial contributions to help organisations deliver water education or conservation projects.
The purpose of the grants is to promote water conservation through education, efficiency improvements and awareness in the Lower Hunter.
The aim of Hunter Water’s Sustainability Grants is to:
- Empower community groups and organisations to identify water conservation issues through practical solutions and projects.
- Encourage local schools, community groups and organisations to undertake activities which address local environmental issues to protect and enhance our natural environment.
A local group, Wollombi Tidy Valley has been successful in their application.
Wollombi Tidy Valley is a voluntary community group supported by Cessnock Council to coordinate activities and projects that will enhance the local area.
The grant will be used to erect a small fishing platform at Wollombi. The platform will be used to assist the Wollombi School to safely carry out sampling for the Water Watch program, funded by Hunter Water and organised by Local Land Services. Visitors and locals will also have access to this platform for recreational actives.
Hunter Water conducts its community funding program on a yearly basis, for further information about Hunter Water’s grants program go to http://www.hunterwater.com.au/Community/Community-Funding-Program/Sustainability-Grants/Current-Recipients.aspx
