Mr CLAYTON BARR (Cessnock)—We Help Ourselves Hunter Valley which is located in my Electorate are celebrating their 20 year Anniversary in the second half of this year. WHOS is a 4-6 months Residential Therapeutic Community for men and women. Their goal is to help individuals find freedom from substance dependence (alcohol and other drug dependence) and discover a better way of living. The clients (also referred to as residents), together with staff, work together to overcome the problem of substance dependence and promote personal change. Residents are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and build their awareness of the effect their behaviour has on themselves and the community around them. WHOS is funded by Commonwealth Department of Health and supported by NSW Ministry of Health.
