Clayton Barr - Community Recognition Statements

Mr CLAYTON BARR (Cessnock): The Cessnock Electorate and specifically the West Wallsend Community has lost a stalwart with the passing of John Robert ‘Bob’ Broadfoot OAM. Bob received his Medal of the Order of Australia in January 2008. In 2018, Bob was recognised for an incredible 50 years of service as a Justice of the Peace. Bob was a life member of West Wallsend Workers Club, have served as its President for over 20+ years. Bob was a life member and past president of West Wallsend Combined Pensioners Association. Bob also received a Lifetime Achievement Award issued from Wallsend Rotary in recognition of service to the Community. West Wallsend High School awarded Bob a P&C Life Membership and Honorary Prefect. Bob was still a Mentoring Team Leader in the Plan-it Youth Program at WWHS since 2006. Bob dedicated 15 years to Sugarvalley Neighbourhood Centre as their Treasurer. He was also a Volunteer Tutor teaching seniors in the use of computers, tablets and the internet there since 2010.
