Her Sport Her Way Grants

Latest News

State Member for the Electorate of Cessnock, Clayton Barr, MP, has announced that the 2019 Her Sport Her Way Program is open for applications.

The women’s sport landscape has changed significantly in recent years. Sports have been challenged to provide opportunities for women and girls in sports which were not traditionally offered or played.

The Her Sport Her Way program aims to increase the number of women and girls playing sport and improve the retention of adolescent girls, increase the number of women in leadership positions both on and off the field and build gender inclusive sporting cultures and environments.

Her Sport Her Way is part of the Office of Sport’s Women in Sport Strategy with the goal to build a stronger sport sector where women and girls are valued, recognised and have equal choices and opportunities to lead and participate.

“Across the Cessnock Electorate we have several sporting organisations who offer avenues for women and girls to participate in sport. This program offers the opportunity for more females to get involved in local sport in participatory and leadership roles.” Mr Barr said.

Participation in sport at any level contributes to healthy and active living. Women and girls who participate in sport receive significant physical, psychological and social benefits.

Funding is available for grants from $5,000 to $50,000 and are part of the NSW State Government’s program which provides up to $2.6 million over four years.
