Raising the BARR- Week ending 10 December 2021

Raising the Barr

GOODBYE 2021 – HELLO 2022

Life is far too precious to be willing our time away. Ask most people as they come closer to the end of life and they will probably be wishing that they had more time, or that they had done more with the time that they had.

But I have to say that I am looking forward to the end of 2021. It’s just been a really tough year in many ways and I am really looking forward to a Christmas-New Year “reset”. Not everyone will agree, but I am sure that many will.

For those of you that have had a good year in 2021 I say congratulations to you and well done. I hope that things in 2022 continue to go well for you all. And for those that had a 2021 a bit more like mine, fingers crossed we can all get back into the good books of the cosmic karma of life and have a terrific 2022 too.

VACCINATION WILL BE IMPORTANT FOR ALL FREEDOMS

15 December, 2021, has been billed as a day for “freedom” for all – both the vaccinated and unvaccinated. There are plenty of people thinking that on that day, on that date, things will go back to “normal” for all.

I don’t think that it’s that simple. Not even close!

Beyond 15 December my office and plenty of other places of business and work will continue to insist on vaccinations, masks, QR code check-ins, etc. If people can’t follow these basic rules of entry, then entry will be refused.

You see the employer still has a responsibility to their employee to offer a safe work environment. And when we are dealing with an illness that has killed millions of people across the globe, a safe work environment would want to absolutely minimise that risk.

So I am predicting plenty of places with signs that essentially say (or mean) “no jab – no entry”.

Working through this is going to require enormous patience and goodwill amongst us all, as a community. There are going to be unvaccinated people that want their full freedoms, only to realise that their freedom is limited by the rules of each separate business and venue. There are going to be plenty of vaccinated people that are tired of all the check-ins, proofs, masks etc.

Everything post 15 December is going to require the very best of each of us, just at a time when we are probably all pretty exhausted from giving our best for the past 18 months. Go well everyone and go with as much compassion and understanding as you can muster.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and happy holidays.
