The proposed upgrade of the Newcastle Link Road and Minmi Road intersection at Cameron Park has reached another milestone, with the community consultation report now published.
The NSW Government is investing $5.8 million in planning for the upgrade of the Newcastle Link Road and Minmi Road intersection to help ease congestion, to support future growth along the corridor and improve safety for all road users.
Community consultation on the preferred design was held from 19 September to 17 October 2025, attracting more than 530 submissions, including 502 completed online surveys.
The feedback showed overwhelming support for the project, with more than 97 per cent of respondents saying the upgrade is important and almost 89 per cent supporting the preferred design.
The consultation report summarises community feedback and Transport for NSW (TfNSW) response to key issues, including:
- Strong support for the preferred design.
- Calls to begin construction as soon as possible.
- Questions about the proposed traffic lights and lane configuration.
- Concerns about traffic noise and construction impacts.
The next stage of the project is the development of the concept design, with WSP Australia Pty Ltd appointed to undertake this work.
TfNSW will continue working with the community and key stakeholders as planning progresses. Investigation work will be carried out over the coming months to inform the concept design.
Construction timing is yet to be confirmed and will depend on future funding and planning approvals.
