Cessnock Electorate benefits from $50,000 in Local Sport Grant Program funding

Community sport in the Electorate of Cessnock have shared in $4.4 million in NSW Government funding following the awarding of grants in the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.

The program provides grants up to $20,000 to individual clubs and associations; with $50,000 available in each Electorate to increase participation in community sport. 579 projects were awarded funding in this year’s program.

Eight projects were awarded funding in the Electorate of Cessnock for new equipment, programs and facilities valued at $50,000.

The successful recipients for the 2024 Local Sport Grant Program in the Electorate of Cessnock are:

  • Bellbird Junior Football Club is to receive $2,530.00 for training and game day equipment for registered players to improve their experience with football.
  • Bellbird Workers Cricket Club is to receive $3,007.15 for cylinder mower and electric motor for pitch roller.
  • Cessnock Motorcross Club Inc is to receive $4,949.77 towards coaching equipment.
  • Fernances Creek Riding Club is to receive $3,500.00 for cross country equestrian jumps.
  • Hunter Horse Driving Society Inc is to receive $3,708.00 for FEI approved driving cones.• Kurri Kurri Football Club Inc is to receive $19,938.00 for their program to improve access and inclusion.
  • West Wallsend Senior Football Club is to receive $2,420.00 towards NNSWF B Licence.
  • Wine Country Cricket Club is to receive $9,947.08 for junior cricket development.

“This funding will help our local clubs and their army of volunteers to provide more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the benefits of sport and active recreation.”

“The Local Sport Grant Program funding will help eight local clubs across multiple sports to upgrade equipment and facilities, help with coaching and encourage everyone to increase their participation in sport.”

“This year we have doubled the funding for individual projects, meaning grassroots community sports clubs and associations can provide more programs and equipment to support their participants.
