Mr CLAYTON BARR (Cessnock): My Electorate is very fortunate to have 3 Neighbourhood Centres in the Lake Macquarie part of the Cessnock Electorate. Cameron Park Community Centre is located at 107 Northlakes Drive Cameron Park. It is a meeting place and home of many of the area’s community groups, children’s services and cultural groups. It offers families and individuals facilities such as a BBQ area and children’s playground. The Centre’s Child and Family Workers provide support and assistance to families by way of advice and information, free parenting programs, referrals and links to specialist services and programs, and advocating on a person’s behalf with government and non-government agencies. The Centre’s Family Preservation Families Together service aims to keep children at home in a safe, stable environment, improve parenting capacity, improve children’s wellbeing and prevent unnecessary placement into Out of Home Care. Support can include assessment and case planning, family focused casework, home visiting, basic living skills such as budgeting, and practical assistance, emotional support and emotional regulation. Some of the parenting programs available are Black Box Parenting Program, Bringing up Great Kids, Parents as Teachers, Tuning into Kids Program, Tuning into Teens Program. Thank you for all you do.
